Heating and Cooling Designs that Save Dollars & Improve Air Quality & Comfort
An intense design process between CONFRA, the Consultant and the Mechanical Contractor is the key to maximizing the quality of the air on each floor and the overall project and equipment costs. The airflow is scrutinized according to economic implications to the project, how the airflow fits into the sustainability of the structure and most importantly, how the airflow program would benefit the inhabitants of the building.
Lighting Designs that Save Dollars & Maximize Utilization of Natural Light
CONFRA works with the Architects and design professionals to maximize the amount of daylight that can penetrate the building in order to achieve a reduced need for artificial light. This will create a healthier work environment, improve productivity and reduce maintenance and operating costs. Our construction professionals are continuously investigating and proposing sustainable solutions to reduce ongoing energy consumption.
Procurement – Products, Demolition & Recycling
During the construction process CONFRA works diligently at maintaining a clean and healthy environment for our workers, neighbours and end-users.
Containment and minimization of construction impacts is a primary concern during the construction phase of any project. A thorough plan is created for every project with the focus being to protect the surrounding environment and inhabitants from construction impacts. A major part of the initial demolition and disposal plan includes an extensive pre-construction review of the site conditions and preparation of proper dust and noise control.
A great deal of our attention is focused on the maximum diversion of waste from landfills. Our staff works diligently with trades, subcontractors, suppliers and amenity providers to reuse, recycle or compost as much as possible of the material or waste generated by the project.
CONFRA is also dedicated to protecting the environment by using recycled material such as paper, sanitary items and other supplies throughout the workplace. We make every effort to minimize our printing, turn off all electrical equipment that is not in use and run our air conditioning only during office hours.
Sustainability has become an integral part of CONFRA’s construction operations on the job-site and in the office environment. We are enthusiastic to be on the forefront of developing standards for a greener environment.
